FFKM o-ring: properties
This o-ring is an absolute star in terms of resistance properties: it has an even better chemical resistance and temperature resistance than the FKM (Viton®) o-ring. The material is similar to the fluoroplastic PTFE. The advantage compared to a PTFE ring is its elasticity. A PTFE ring cannot be pulled over a groove in an axle. Because of it’s flexibility, a FFKM o-ring can.
FFKM rubber is a fluoropolymer with an exceptionally good chemical resistance. The mechanical properties remain intact at temperatures of more than 300 ºC. O-rings of this material are therefore often applied in (petro) chemical industry. They have the very best resistance to hydrocarbons, acids, alkalis and even oxidants.
Explosive decompression o-ring
If pressure suddenly drops in gas applications and high-pressure applications, the gas that has penetrated into the o-ring wants to go out. As a result, the ring tears apart. For these critical applications we have a solution: the explosive decompression o-ring.
The explosive decompression o-ring is mainly used in the oil and gas industry.
